Darryl R. Matthews, Sr. is currently the Executive Director of The National Medical Association (NMA). He is responsible for the day-to-day management, and executing the organizations strategic objectives.

Prior to joining the NMA, Darryl served as a Partnership Development Specialist for the US Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce, and as the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer for the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations including the supervision of the National Office.

Prior to that he was an independent consultant for the White House Presidential Advance staff where he coordinated and managed sites in various locations for functions attended by the President of the United States, (POTUS) and his senior staff.

He has also served as the executive director of the century old Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland where he helped engineer the passage of fraternity-sponsored legislation to construct a Memorial on the Federal Mall in Washington, D.C. for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Additionally, Mr. Matthews was the 32nd General President and Chairman of the board of directors for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he presided over the fraternity’s highly acclaimed centennial convention.

Darryl Matthews is an alumnus of the University of Central Missouri (formerly Central Missouri State University) and has a degree in political science and sociology.
