Call for Abstracts
The National Medical Association (NMA) invites you to submit abstracts for presentation at the 2024 NMA Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly to be held August 2 – 7, 2024 in New York, NY. We accept submissions from all disciplines including medical directors, attending physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, administrators, practice managers, consultant pharmacists, dieticians, mental health professionals, social workers/case managers, rehabilitation professionals, residents, students, and all other professionals practicing in the healthcare continuum.
Abstracts may be submitted for consideration for either an oral (podium) presentation, or a poster presentation.

Abstract Requirements:
- Adhere to the 250-word limit.
Abstracts are limited to 250 words. Abstract title and author names do NOT count toward word limit. - Include an abstract title (10-word limit)
- Be in the following format:
- Introduction
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
- Be relevant to health professionals.
- Have concepts that have immediate practical application.
- Be original work that has not been submitted or accepted by a professional journal or other publication that will be disseminated prior to the conference.
- Contain information that is up-to-date and advocates for safe patient care if applicable.
- Disclose all financial support.
- Speaker Information must include:
- Short Bio and contact information
- Financial disclosures
- Discipline and role in presentation
The abstract submissions will be reviewed according to the following guidelines:
1. The content of the abstract provides an opportunity to share best medical practices and outcomes as well as emerging research data with colleagues.
2. Pharmaceutical or other medical products discussed in the abstract presentation that are not FDA approved must be accompanied by disclosure. Medications will be referred to only by class and/or generic names.
3. Abstract submission includes concepts that have immediate practical application.
4. Submission has relevance to the professional practices of the Association’s members and those working in the medical practitioner setting.
5. Poster submissions are entirely non-commercial. Posters may not promote specific medical substances/products.
6. Abstracts should not be submitted for previously published work or work that will be printed and disseminated by the time of the Association’s Annual Convention August 3rd – 7th, 2024.
7. The material presented in the abstract must be up-to-date and presented in a balanced and unbiased manner. Comparisons of efficacy, contraindications, modes of administration, etc., between competitive products shall be fully presented. Editorial conclusion should be avoided.
8. All abstract authors are required to review the Association’s Financial Disclosure Policy. Disclosures for all authors must be included with the abstract submission.
9. Abstracts with missing documentation will be considered incomplete and will not be considered or reviewed.
10. The Association conducts a blind review of abstracts, which means author identities and institutions are concealed from the reviewers. The selection process of the review committee is confidential, and its decisions are final. Those who submit abstracts agree to accept the decision of the review committee.
11. The Association reserves the right to remove posters displayed at the conference that give the appearance of commercial bias/intent.
12. Submissions from ACCME defined ineligible companies will not be accepted. These are companies whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.
