Dr. Faggett enjoys a distinguished career as a pediatrician, health systems administrator, and policy analyst. He is a retired Armed Forces Colonel and Paratrooper; and the recipient of the Skinner Medal from the Academy of Health Sciences. He holds licensure to practice medicine in five states, including the District of Columbia. Dr. Faggett has a long-standing relationship with the NMA. Prior to his recent appointments, he served as Chair for Region V and the NMA’s Pediatric Section. It is also important to note, this is the second time Dr. Faggett has been voted by his colleagues to serve. He first held the position from 1988-1989. Prior to that he also sat on the BOT in 2008.
Dr. Faggett is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed internships and a pediatric residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Adolescent Medicine Fellowship DC Children’s Hospital (CNMC), and was a Psychiatric Liaison Fellow at DC General Hospital in Washington D.C. Dr. Faggett is Past President of the D.C. Medico- Chirurgical Society (an affiliate of the National Medical Association). Dr. Faggett is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine, and Certified in Buprenorphine Addiction Medicine. Dr. Faggett retired from the District of Columbia Department of Health (DCDOH) in July of 2008, where he served as Chief Medical Office and second-in-command of the entire health department and its citywide divisional networks. He concurrently serves as Medical Director of DC Medical Assistance Administration.

Celebrating the incredible legacy of Dr. Vivian W. Pinn this #WomensHistoryMonth!
Dr. Pinn, MD, made history as the 2nd Black woman to graduate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1967. She broke barriers as the 1st African-American woman to lead a pathology department in the U.S. and served as President of the National Medical Association.
As the first full-time director of the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health, she advanced women’s health research and inclusion in clinical trials. Dr. Pinn’s impact continues to inspire countless physicians, scientists, and researchers.
Her legacy lives on through numerous accolades, including the renaming of UVA’s medical research building to Pinn Hall in her honor.
