Black Physicians Convene in Chicago Amid Critical Moment for U.S. Healthcare

National Medical Association’s 2025 Convention to Spotlight Leadership, Advocacy, and Health Equity

CHICAGO, IL — From July 19–23, the National Medical Association (NMA) will host its 123rd Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly in Chicago, Illinois, bringing together Black physicians, health leaders, and policy makers for education, advocacy, and a focus on evidence-backed research.

With mounting challenges in health care policy and growing threats to health equity and access, the NMA’s mission to support Black physicians and champion equitable care has never been more important. Led by current president Dr. Virginia A. Caine, the 2025 Convention will serve as a platform for solution-focused dialogue, professional development, and national visibility for the issues impacting Black physicians and the communities they serve.

Throughout the convention there will be sessions related to health care access, vaccines, the needs of Black physicians and more. This is an opportunity for media to find sources across all medical specialties for coverage in this changing environment.
