For Immediate Release:

Statement attributable to:
126th President, National Medical Association
The current state of the nation’s public health system, which is being undercut by the current administration, places Americans at risk and undermines the expertise and care that physicians and health care workers provide.
Yesterday’s testimony by the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., highlighted the concerns raised by his actions and the impact on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our entire public health system.
The National Medical Association (NMA), the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing Black physicians, reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the health and safety of every American. And we call for the appointment of physicians and public health experts with verified, scientific credentials to lead our nation’s most important health care agencies.
The NMA believes firmly in the power of evidence-backed vaccines to save lives. Vaccines provide critical protection for individuals and communities alike. And vaccines are a proven cornerstone of disease prevention and public health.
At a time of heightened concern and debate, the NMA continues to stand on the side of science, public health, and the communities we serve. Vaccines remain one of the safest and most effective tools we have to protect lives and strengthen the nation’s health.
