Congratulations to NMA member Dr. Andrea Hayes Dixon on her historic appointment as President of the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA)!

Dr. Hayes Dixon, Dean of Howard University College of Medicine, is a nationally recognized pediatric cancer surgeon, researcher, and medical educator. She is the first Black woman in the U.S. to be board-certified in pediatric surgery, and now, the first Black woman to lead APSA.

With over two decades of groundbreaking work in academic medicine and pediatric surgical innovation, Dr. Hayes Dixon continues to lead, mentor, and champion health equity on a national scale.
