We are thrilled to celebrate his remarkable achievement, Dr. McDougle has been honored with the Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Award by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) for 2025.
Dr. McDougle made history as the first African-American tenured professor in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University in the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
As 121st President of the National Medical Association (NMA), he provided vital leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping improve vaccine uptake in the Black community from just ~20% to ~55% in early 2021, and later to ~73%.
His decades-long mentorship of students from disadvantaged backgrounds through the MEDPATH program and his steadfast advocacy for health equity make him a true role model.
Join us in applauding Dr. McDougle for his enduring contributions to medicine, to our community, and to the mission of the NMA. His leadership exemplifies what it means to advance equity, representation, and excellence in healthcare.
