The efforts by the current U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary to push out leadership at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and undercut evidence-backed vaccine reviews endangers the American public. As the largest organization representing the interests of Black physicians, the National Medical Association calls for immediate Congressional oversight of HHS and the CDC to ensure decisions are made based on science by legitimate scientific and medical experts. This is critical to healthcare delivery across our nation.
