A dozen national health organizations, including Physicians for Social Responsibility, released a new report, Fueling Sickness: The Hidden Health Costs of Fossil Fuel Pollution. This report examines the compounding health harms throughout a person’s lifetime and across the life cycle of fossil fuels. Experts came together to collect all of this information and communicate it in plain language so that as many people as possible can gain an understanding and demand that action be taken. The report calls on decision makers to:

  1. Transition away from fossil fuel use as rapidly as possible;

  2. Enforce strong standards and safeguards that hold polluting industries accountable; and

  3. Invest in public health infrastructure and clean energy innovation.
