🚨 NMA Statement: Federal Cuts Threaten America’s Public Health
The National Medical Association is deeply concerned by reports of staffing cuts across key federal health agencies amid the ongoing government shutdown. Reductions at the CDC and NIH threaten to weaken the nation’s ability to prevent disease, advance research, and protect public health.
Public health is not partisan, it’s essential to the safety and wellbeing of every community. Undermining the CDC and NIH risks long-term damage to the systems that safeguard us all.
The NMA calls on Congress and the Administration to end the shutdown, restore stability, and recommit to a strong, well-resourced public health infrastructure.
